Roma

Roma was picked up by Los Angeles animal control after being found dragging herself around the streets, unable to use her hind legs. She was brought to a shelter, where the staff assumed she had been hit by a car. X-rays soon revealed however that Roma had a bullet lodged in her spine, rendering her paralyzed.

After receiving an urgent call from the shelter, the LA based rescue Dogs Without Borders pulled Roma and initiated a complete medical workup. She later spent several weeks at CAR (California Animal Rehabilitation) and underwent physical therapy, acupuncture, ice therapy, and fitting for a wheelchair.

Despite her injury and disability, Roma is friendly and gets along well with both people and other dogs. She remains under the care of Dogs Without Borders, and is awaiting either a foster or to be adopted into a forever home.
